www.theblisspages.com - travel: Northern IrelandI was working in London during the IRA campaign starting in the seventies, and thought I might never be able to visit Northern Ireland. However, the opportunity arrived during the ceasefire in the mid-nineties.
I stayed in a small but friendly B & B in Belfast for a few days.
I spent a lot of my time - when not working - just wandering around and felt quite safe - far safer than when I walk around Manchester, a city that always feels threatening to me though I have never experienced trouble there.
I particularly enjoyed strolling round the Palm House Botanic Gardens.
I didn't get the chance to travel outside Belfast, which was a great shame, but hope I'll have the opportunity to return one day.
