This page is for anything that doesn't fit anywhere else. One-off events, anything that isn't meaty enough to get its own page yet, and miscellaneous links. For example you can find astronomy, links to motor racing and my page on religions. No, I haven't been born-again, but I hope you'll find it interesting. Look for my "I can't believe it's not Buddha" caption!

In June 2003, I fulfilled a life-long ambition and went hot-air ballooning.

Here is my page on the Queen's Golden Jubilee and my garden party in 2002. As well as a wants list, I now have a selling & trading list.

Motor racing has moved to its own page and has some mention of my own racing exploits in my youth.

I have also created a poetry page.

Below are just a few of the links I use frequently, with a few musings from yours truly!

astronomy

Joseph (you may have seen his name on my board games page), recently bought a telescope. It's a Meade ETX-90RA 90mm Maksutov Cassegrain Telescope and, as his garden has tall trees which limit his viewing, he often pops round with his scope for a spot of observing.

moon Mars - the red planet

The pictures of the moon and Mars were taken on Wednesday 6 August 2003 using a Canon Ixus 400 held by the eyepiece of the scope.

The moon is about 230,000 miles away and Mars is almost at its closest - about 34.5 million miles away. You can click on the photo of the moon for an enlargement.

Joseph has now bought a proper camera mount and this should further increase the quality of the pictures.

Let us know if you found this section interesting and we will put up more pictures and perhaps give astronomy its own page in the future.

venus transit

Joseph sent me an interesting account of his experience of the Venus Transit of 8th June 2004

my wants list (not just for Xmas!)

I'm often asked (well, occasionally!) what I'd like - and what I'd rather not get! Here's my wants list ...
