www.theblisspages.com - spamDon't you just hate it? Having to scroll through hundreds of offensive messages you don't want every time you open your mailbox can be embarrassing as well as annoying.
I've tried some of the Outlook-based tools and wasn't much impressed - and of course, you've already downloaded the mails by then.
It's much better if you can eliminate them at source.
If you have your own website, you may already have the tools you need.
I use www.LunarPages.com to host theblisspages, and included with their other services is mail. As well as webmail, that enables you to collect your email from any browser, I have Spam Assassin, and this can make a huge difference to the amount of spam you receive!
It has a set of rules that it uses to decide if mail is legitimate or probable spam. For example, if it promotes weight loss, says if can enlarge your breasts or penis (delete as appropriate!), or asks you to receive millions of pounds from Nigeria, it is likely to be unsolicited spam!
You can modify how much it gives mail the benefit of the doubt: at 1.0, your mother would have trouble emailing you, and at 30.0, it will all come rolling in! You can configure it to be sent to a spam mailbox, where you can inspect it at your leisure, and you can set whitelists to ensure emails from friends are never labelled spam.
I hope you found this useful, and welcome feedback.
