Pasteboard and Plastic VIII

Links on this page: Sorry! Sliders : Little Italy : Prophesy : Stone Age : Werewolf : Munchkin Quest

The first Pasteboard and Plastic event in Saltdean was in November 2005. This is the eighth event, in March 2009, and as always, it was a fun day. See this geeklist on BoardGameGeek, or this index of all P&P events.

Pasteboard and Plastic VIII - a general view I'd like to thank Dick, an irregular at our gaming group, for organising it so well. We had an attendance of around thirty again, and the event raised over a hundred pounds for the 42nd Brighton Scout Group.

I wanted to play some of the unplayed games in my collection and took a large bag with me, as well as two games to sell. In the event, I played three of the games I took, and sold one. Ironically, the game that didn't sell was called Sold!.

However I bought Munchkin Quest and Guillotine.

I'd also like to thank Keith, who gave me a free expansion for Agricola.

Sorry! Sliders

Sorry! Sliders We played two rounds of Sorry! Sliders. It's a fun game I picked up in San Francisco recently (see San Francisco 2009). It was played a lot during the day.

players: Mike, Peter, Philip, Tim

playing time: 30 minutes for two rounds

Little Italy

Little Italy I thought this played really well. There have been some negative comments on the Geek, but only from people who misunderstood the rules! Reiner Knizia rocks!

players: Mike, Peter, Philip, Tim

playing time: 30 minutes

Prophesy

Prophesy This is a relatively long game with role-playing elements, and both the games I've had so far have been the basic game. I've enjoyed both though I must find some player aids. I'm looking forward to playing the full game - perhaps at Pasteboard and Plastic IX.

Highly recommended.

players: Dave, Gihan, Mike, Ron

playing time: 2.5 hours

Stone Age

Stone Age This is another great game, though I was floundering at the beginning. I swiftly recovered to secure last place!

players: Helen, Gihan, Mike, Ron

playing time: 3 hours

Werewolf

Werewolf Traditionally played towards the end of a Pasteboard and Plastic event, this was as much fun as previous games. The werewolves learned their lesson after the drubbing they received in P&P VII, and won both games.

I played a werewolf in both rounds... (also see Pasteboard and Plastic V's Werewolf).

players: Alastair, Damon, Dick, Gihan, Heidi, Helen, Jim, Keith, Mike, Phil, Pete, Ron, Tony, Tim and at least one other. Sorry. Who did I miss?

playing time: 1 hour

Munchkin Quest

Munchkin Quest Finally, we played Munchkin Quest. It's a fun game I nearly picked up in San Francisco recently - see San Francisco 2009. I'm glad I didn't, as it was much cheaper from the excellent folks at Board Game Club ($50 in the states as opposed to £21). Unfortunately, I didn't have time to properly digest the rulebook. Now I've read it, I can see the game will run faster and more fluidly, and look forward to trying it again.

players: Mike, Tony

playing time: 1.5 hours

I didn't play:

Leader 1

I liked the look of this game, but don't know much about it. Leader 1 Leader 1

10 Days in USA

10 Days in USAI picked this up in San Francisco recently - see San Francisco 2009, but haven't yet played it, though I have played 10 Days in Europe. I was pleased to see that it got played. Hopefully, I'll get to have a go soon.

I plan to attend Pasteboard and Plastic IX on 11 July 2009.
