poets cornered: olympian evening

We had a great evening recently. I chose the theme, and it had to be the Olympics. I was unenthused before they started, and tempted to boycott them due to China's abysmal human rights' record, but then they started, and I was so amazed by the athletes' dedication and refusal to accept their limitations that I was hooked. I empathised with the failures and was lifted by the successes. Not all, however, were so taken...

I read out a piece I had written on the day we won the bid for London 2012, free the mind, then we started writing.

There were some great poems written, and I'm pleased to include anthem tears by Kiersty Boon. I wrote olympic spirit and the overlooked. Why don't you have a go, and send an Olympic-inspired poem to my website - email me.
