Aspartame is found in NutraSweet and Aim for Health voices some concerns about it.
Saccharin is a synthetic chemical, benzoic sulphimide, 550 times as sweet as sucrose. Soluble saccharin is the sodium salt. It has no food value, but is useful as a sweetening agent for diabetics and slimmers. It was discovered in the USA in 1879.

You just can't win though. I just found an article in The Nutrition Reporter about the dangers of fructose. Basically, although using it rather than sugar decreases spikes in blood sugar levels, it also increases cholesterol and triglyceride levels and the risk of heart problems!
The Arwystli Medical Practice in Wales has some useful advice on sweeteners for Diabetics.
It is a good idea to use several different sweeteners, to limit your dosage of each.
