www.theblisspages.com - arabian nights
Another fancy dress party at The White Hart in Lewes, and this time, the theme was Arabian Nights. I wore a djellaba which I had bought in Morocco nearly twenty years ago.
As usual, some people had excelled themselves - the best outfit was the camel costume two intrepid dancers wore, even keeping it on during the warm-up, and I think it was no co-incidence that we did an inordinate number of spins during this session.
There was no intermediate class tonight, which was a pity after a layoff of nearly six months. I survived it though, and can even remember half the sequence we learnt. I was being very protective of my foot, as my bike had overbalanced on the train the previous day, and fallen on my toe, which was very tender as a result.
We also had a belly-dancing lesson, where hip mobility was very important.
I managed the sequences, though I suspect I looked a little like a hippo doing a pirouette...
Certainly, the demonstration belly-dance we were treated to later was an order of magnitude better, and a real privilege to witness.
The evening was great fun, and at least this time we didn't get clamped!
