www.theblisspages.com - New Year Salsa dance
Chris and I went to a New Year Salsa dance at The Albany (Lions) Hotel in Eastbourne this year.
I've never celebrated the New Year with a Salsa dance before, but after this, I hope to do so again soon.
There was a very friendly atmosphere, and I recognised most of the faces from the Babylon Lounge in Hove, the White Hart Hotel in Lewes or Salsa trips to Lille.
I chatted to Dave and Mira, and was interested to hear of the cruise he is organising from 9-16th September 2005 on the MSC Sinfonia. The cost is £599, and the itinerary includes Naples, Palermo, Tunis, Palma, Barcelona, Marseille and Genoa - and of course, Salsa lessons and parties. For more details, call Dave Sloper on 07904 481396. Sounds interesting, but I don't think my finances will stretch this year.
We danced until midnight, but were disappointed not to be able to buy Champagne to toast in the New Year. I persuaded the barman to break open a bottle of sparkling wine so we were at least able to toast the new year.
After a rendition of Auld Lang Syne, we went outside - and I was surprised to find it warm enough to stand in shirt-sleeves. We waved back at the crew of a passing fire-engine and watched some fireworks for a few minutes before repairing downstairs for a last dance.
It was a surprisingly sober evening for me, but I was glad the next morning, with nary a trace of a hangover.
